From police control to violation of justice

Sadly many people in Germany live with the reality of being insulted, victimised, kicked and beaten by the police. As well as left-wingers, prostitutes and homeless people, more and more immigrants are becoming victims of police violence. They tell of systematic violation which begins with “suspected independant” control, follows on with racists insults and ends with the victim being kicked and beaten. For those affected, violation of justice frequently means that they have the feeling that they are powerless compared to the police force and the state. This (the feeling of violation) could be strengthen further through the slim chance that they may face a punishment or disciplinary penalty against them. Due to unfair accounts of the violation and a systematic lack of persecution and sanctioning for acts of violation it is normally the victim and not the perpretator that is condemned for the act of violation against them.

• Are thugs in uniforms simply only “black sheep” and therefore only vicitms of their working conditions? Or are there structural deficiencies within the police force which allows or even promotes violation of justice?
• Why do more and more immigrants come into the police force’s field of vision and become victims of violation of justice? Is racism in the police force only a reflection of the mind of society or is there more behind it?
• Why are offenders protected by their colleagues, those high up in the police force, and politicians? And why is there no need for offenders to fear a conviction for the violation while many of those affected by it, alone out of fear of a complaint being made against them, do not give a full account of what has happened?

The event “From police control to violation of justice” will seek to answer all of these and many more questions and will also seek to give a voice to those affected by violation of justice.

Zweite Auflage der Begleitbroschüre erschienen

Wir freuen uns dank des großen Interesses, bereits ein Jahr nach Eröffnung der neu konzipierten Ausstellung im April 2007 eine zweite Auflage der Begleitbroschüre präsentieren zu können. Die Broschüre hat mit der zweiten Auflage hat ein neues Vorwort erhalten und die Texte wurden sprachlich überarbeitet. Die Broschüre liegt bei der Wanderausstellung aus und kann bei uns bestellt werden.
Die PDFs entsprechen der zweiten Auflage und können hier heruntergeladen werden. Die Online-Version und die englische Übersetzung sind auf dem Stand der ersten Auflage.

Selbstverständlich kann die Ausstellung nach wie vor bei uns ausgeliehen werden. Aktuelle Ausstellungsorte finden sie unter Termine.
