Stop and (no) go
Racism and the Police force

Migrants, refugees, African-Germans and others who are defined by the State as non-German and are therefore particularly seen as suspicious, are frequently victims of ill-treatment by police officers. On a regular basis the victims are themselves classified as the perpetrators. Police officers stop people without just reason to do so and use this as the instrument which opens the door to them being able to voluntarily use racism and ill-treatment. Black people are all too often stopped without reason, admittedly they are not stopped because they are doing their job to check people but they are stopped because of general suspicions that police officers have of them. The victim is investigated if this incident leads to violation of justice because of their resistance, insults or physical injuries. It is hard to reufte the claims of the police officer and to rise above them, the actions of the police officer are therefore justified and those people affected by the violation are intimidated.

We want to discuss the following questions in the course of the podiums discussion “stop and (no) go”:

These questions will be discussed from the Campaign for Victims of Racist Police Violence (Kampagne für Opfer rassistischer Polizeigewalt [KOP]) with:
